Founded in 2013, Fridman Gallery represents contemporary artists from around the world, featuring avant-garde exhibitions in a variety of media, including visual and sound art.


The gallery's Fridman Live platform presents intermedia in its many forms, including music, performance art, and theater among others.

Each January, we host the New Ear Festival, a showcase of emerging, established, and legendary performers who set the tone for the new year through a program of sound installations, music, performance art, screenings, storytelling, and movement. Moving into its sixth iteration in 2021, the festival continues to be an inclusive and experimental outlet for performers of all stripes.

Since 2017, we are home to choreographer Abigail Levine's Restagings, a longform, multi-part performance series that re-reads minimalist and conceptual artworks as works of performances—five over the course of five years. The series reimagines works by an iconic cadre of 1960s artists—Sol LeWitt, Richard Serra, Carl Andre, Robert Morris, and Walter de Maria—all of whom were closely associated with dance and performance artists of their era—Yvonne Rainer, Simone Forti, Ana Mendieta, and Carolee Schneemann among them.

In September 2016, we hosted 9e + 50, a dedication to the historic 9 Evenings of Theater and Engineering, featuring performances by Alvin Lucier, Pauline Olivieros, Simon Forti, Christian Wolf, and others. In December 2016, we restaged Robert Whitman's legendary Prune Flat (1966) in cooperation with Dia Art Foundation.

We look forward to continuing an ambitious and innovative program that brings performers to the gallery setting.
